Regular Monthly Firesides:

On the first Friday of each month Katrina and Nafeh Fananapazir host a fireside at their home: 1343 Michigan Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208 (Hyde Park area) at 6:30pm / There are some rare exceptions when the Fireside does not happen on the first Friday, so please call ahead to be sure it hasn't changed. First Day of Ridvan

April 20th at 4:00 p.m. – Cincinnati Bahá’í Center

On April 21, 1863, Bahá’u’lláh, Prophet Founder of the Bahá’í Faith, proclaimed that He was the “Promised One”, foretold by The Báb. The Báb was the Heraldand Forerunner of Bahá’u’lláh. Bahá’u’lláh crossed the Tigris River on a small boat with two of His sons and His secretary, and there, He entered the Garden of Ridvan (meaning Garden of Paradise), located in Baghdád, Iraq. This day is referred to in the Bahá’í Faith as The Most Great Festival.

(Ridvan is pronounced Rezvon.)

It was on this day that Bahá’u’lláh’s family and friends were finally able to cross the Tigris River and join Him in the Garden of Ridvan.

Twelfth Day of Ridvan

May 1st at 6:00 p.m. – Cincinnati Bahá’í Center
Bahá’u’lláh spent this final day, prior to His forced exile, in the Garden of Ridvan, offering guidance, comfort and loving regards to the throng of believers, friendsand well-wishers, as well as governmental, business and religious leaders who longed to be in His presence. Through tears of sadness and grief, they all bid Him farewell.

The Báb means Gate in Arabic. On this day in 1844, He proclaimed to be the Herald and Forerunner of “Him Whom God shall manifest.” Referring to Bahá’u’lláh.

Bahá’u’lláh passes away quietly on this day in 1892, at the age of 75, in the Mansion of Bahji.

Martyrdom of The Báb,

July 9 th at 1:00 p.m. – Cincinnati Bahá’í Center

The Báb’s short life ended when He and a companion were put to death by firing squad in a town square in Tabriz, Iran on this day in 1850. He was 30 years old.The followers of the Báb were known as Bábis; they were persecuted, twenty thousand were martyred and many were banished, in an effort to extinguish the light of this nascent Faith.
